The 2013 IPC Alpine Skiing World Championships were held in the Spanish Pyrenean resort of La Molina. La Molina is a leader in adaptive skiing with many of its facilities setup for the needs of disabled skiers. The snow on the competition pistes was plentiful, hard and fast for an entire week of world class alpine skiing competition.

60 imagesThe first day of competition was the classic downhill. This was participated in by all classifications; standing, sitting and visually impaired. Of particular note was the performance of France's Marie Bochet who would go on to score her first World Championship Gold medal of 5.

26 imagesThe second day of comptition at the IPC Alpine Skiing World Championships in La Molina. Once again blue skies bathed the skiers for the entire day as they enjoyed racing on perfect snow in the Super G.

124 imagesThe slalom was cancelled on the 23rd February at the IPC Alpine Skiing World Championships because of high winds and low low temperatures....try -12degC in the shelter of the crash nets and -25degC out in the wind!! Competition resumed the next day.

65 imagesThe Super Combined is a great test of a skier's abilities as it tests speed and agility...with a Super G course followed by a slalom course...fantastic. This was day to try out some pan-blur shots at the IPC Alpine Skiing World Championships in La Molina.

104 imagesConditions were perfect for the Giant Slalom at the IPC Alpine Skiing World Championships in La Molina. We managed to get into some good safe photo-positions on the slope to capture the action as it unfurled before us.

85 imagesFor me the Team Event was the best of the whole week. Very "nu-skool" and not officially part of the IPC Alpine Skiing World Championships but very much part of the week of competition. The banked slalom course, more reminiscent of snowboarding, proved to be fast and challenging as the teams battled it out. Being a small course it was easy (not necessarily that safe) to get in close to the action. Fantastic!
