The 2013 IPC Athletics Championships in Lyon still rank as the best athletics championships I have photographed outside of the London 2012 Paralympic Games. Despite the sweltering heat of the deadly "canicule" in Lyon that week the stadium was packed with spectators and the athletes delivered the World class sports that everyone hoped and expected to see one year on from the London 2012 Paralympic Games. This was France's Paralympic Games and a real game changer for media coverage of handisport in France. A fantastic success!

56 imagesThe opening ceremony of the 2013 IPC Athletics World Championships took place under thundery showers! The weather didn't dampen spirits. Traditional dance and costume from the region, a magnificent athlete's parade and an appreciative audience in the stands; what more could you ask for? -

The first day of competition at the 2013 IPC Athletics World Championships kicked off with some spectacular long distance racing, long jump and high jump competitions as well as javelin and discus. It was a great start to a fabulous week of parasport in Lyon. -

We were destined to see higher temperatures at the 2013 IPC Athletics World Championships in Lyon. With so much going on on the field and track one didn't know whether to shoot javelin, shot put, discuss or the many many track races happening about us....so opted to photograph a bit of everything! -
