World Para Athletics returned to the Olympic Stadium in London for the 2017 World Championships. There was an
atmosphere reminiscent of the London 2012 Paralympic Games both in terms of spectators, but also the organisation and the many volunteers who help make these events happen. 250,000 tickets sold! More than all the other Para Athletics World Championships combined!!! Absolutely incredible!!! So incredible that the athletes have asked, very publicly, that these championships return in 2019...we'll see!
For my part, I was working for Paralympics Ireland. They fielded a team of ten athletes. It might not sound like many, but they pack a mighty punch. Indeed they returned with 4 Gold medals and 3 silver! A great week for Paralympics Ireland :-)
